Nurse Godi says, "Each year on October 15th, Global Handwashing Day highlights the importance of handwashing with soap and water at home, in the community, and around the world. Global Handwashing Day serves as a yearly reminder that handwashing with soap and water is one of the best steps, we can take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others. According to the CDC, proper handwashing can reduce the number of people who get sick with diarrhea by about 23-40%, reduce absenteeism due to GI illnesses in school children by 29-57%, and reduce respiratory illnesses , like colds, in the general population by about 16-21%. Proper handwashing with soap and water can help prevent the spread of Covid-19."
